The
driving test is designed to test your knowledge on the Rules
of the Road, and whether you have the skill to drive competently
in accordance with the rules.
To
pass your driving test you need to drive without making a
Grade 3 dangerous driving fault and no more than 8 Grade 2
driving faults overall or repeating the same mistake 4 times
during a drive of about 40 minutes.
Do
Your Homework
1. Look at a map of your test centre area and mark out the
most difficult sections of the test routes such as one-way
streets, difficult cross junctions, mini roundabouts, so that
you are ready for them on approach, rather than having to
deal with them without proper knowledge in your driving test.
Make sure you get plenty of practises over the test routes
with a professional driving school such as Amber Driver Training.
2. Learn the Q&A, Road signs, Hand signals, Reverse into
a junction and Turnabout until you can carry them out without
any minor faults. That will leave you with a clean slate for
the rest of the driving test.
3. Practise until you can drive without verbal or physical
intervention from your instructor for the duration of a full
driving lesson or a Pre - driving test. If your instructor
is giving verbal or needs take physical intervention of your
car "You are not prepared"
4. Have an hour's driving lesson on the day of your test.
This will help you to warm up and get into the swing of things.
You will also be aware of any new roadwork’s, obstructions
etc and will feel more able to deal with them more easily.
5. Listen to the examiner carefully and plan each junction
in advance. Talk to yourself about hazards coming up and what
the procedure's are in dealing with them.
6. Mistakes: Stalling: if you stall, deal with it and move
on. As long as you don't stall in a dangerous situation, such
as on a busy junction and as long as you handle it properly,
this needn't count as a major fault and you can still pass
your test.
7. Before you start a manoeuvre, repeat the procedure three
times to yourself until you are sure. Always think positively.
You can do it!
